Role reversal is a great way to gain insight, perspective and observe your own behavior.  Role reversal has opened my eyes on more than one occasion.

Fishegg # 63 Creativity ~ meditative flow

Creativity.  Creativity is bringing something into existence.  The Universe and everything contained in it is in a constant state of creating.  Even if you aren't doing anything you are creating that nothingness.  I view thinking in two very broad terms.  Structured thinking and unstructured thinking.  When we are born we are free flowing unstructured thinkers.  As we are socialized, we take on more structured thinking which is very important for survival.  Both structured and unstructured thinking can result in bringing things into existence.  However, unstructured thinking is where creative flow lies.  This flow is like dipping your pen into your subconscious, the keeper of vast information that has an uncanny ability for connecting things together.  When I create fisheggs, I am in this unstructured creative space.  Creative flow can be a profound and very satisfying experience.  Creative flow can be experienced in many ways.

Blue Sky Mind ~ A very short circular book

  Every once in a while I like to share other creative works.  This is a short book I wrote called, Blue Sky Mind.  At times, we all get to a point when we have too many thoughts and we need to clear our minds and be at peace.  My children find this book very relaxing.  I call it a circular book because like a mantra it can be repeated until thoughts and worries are cleared out.  It also mirrors the life process we all experience in terms of managing thoughts.

Being both a perfectionist and absentminded I've had to embrace the power of mistakes.  Sure mistakes still never feel good but given time and hindsight I've found that if I lean into the mistake and toss it around a bit, I will discover something valuable or maybe even find that the mistake leads me to something important.  This fishegg is inspired by the mistakes in my life and the Irish writer and poet James Joyce.  Base on his quote, he must have experienced the power of mistakes in his life.

Question Survival Guide ~ Socrates

Here's my question guide that reminds me  of the importance of asking questions.  I use it to maneuver life, write, and create fisheggs.

Fisheggs # 52 Introvert ~ Extrovert

A while back I received a "fishegg challenge" based on the theme introvert and extrovert (thanks LB).  When I started to write down some ideas I noticed that I was initially viewing the word introvert in a negative light and the word extrovert in a positive light.  Of course, this ticked me off because I know the value of both and as a person who is more towards the introverted side of the spectrum, I wondered why I had this view.  In Western culture there is much emphasis placed on the importance of being an extrovert.  Although I think this is beginning to shift.  I thought it was interesting that the egg finds life within and the fish finds life externally and then it sort of flips. I decided to draw the first fishegg Introvert/Extrovert picture as a homage to the importance and value of both introversion and extroversion and the interchangable and comprehensive nature of both sides of the coin.  For a great read and a long overdue ~celebration~ of introversion get Laurie Helgoe's PhD book Introvert Power

It's hard to believe I am posting  fishegg  #50.  Fishegg # 50 highlights what fisheggs is all about.  Life does not magically appear externally.  It is our inner landscapes that help create our external experience.  Paying attention to our inner life helps to balance our external life.  When I look at fisheggs # 50, it reminds me to pay attention to what's going on inside.  It also reminds me of planting seeds, development and birth whether that be babies, ideas, art, business plans, self discovery...

I'm all for technology...but on more than one occasion I've technologically dissed myself (distracted that is) leaving my life and my creativity feeling like a lonely neglected egg.  I have a file of fisheggs yet to be inked so today's fishegg gives you insight as to the mounting pile. I quickly markered this sketch.  Creative flow requires the ability to focus and that requires eliminating distractions.

"Fishegg Challenge" sent in by Susan Waldron.  The theme is sibling rivalry/competition and strong emotions between siblings.
Competition is part of the human experience.  Our first experience with competition as well as all other human behavior is with the people in our families.  These early learning experiences are deeply embedded in us. This can set the stage for strong emotion and competition with our siblings.  Feeling extreme emotions and competition from or toward a sibling has a significant impact because the family should be a sort of safe harbor.
